Thank you for your interest in the Medical Sciences Baccalaureate Program! We have a simple and powerful philosophy that forms the core around which the program is built: To help our students find their passion, and bring out the very best in themselves.
The Medical Sciences program prepares students for careers that include: Medicine(MD/DO/MD+PhD), Optometry, Physician Assistant, Dentistry, Pharmacy (PharmD), Public Health, Health Administration, and Biomedical Sciences. An entering student can choose their courses to prepare them best for careers among these pathways.
We believe that a bright young person interested in the careers described above, can benefit most from an undergraduate program that provides a rich variety of hands-on experiences in these career settings. We offer hands-on learning and skill-building in hospital, public health, global health, and biomedical laboratory settings. We integrate these experiences with rigorous academic courses combined with individual mentoring in order to provide a customized curriculum for every student.
We are committed to attracting excellent students from across the nation and the world who come together on campus to form a community of scholars. We use a holistic application review process and consider "the whole person" by evaluating their academic record and extracurricular interests, and personal statement. Admission to the program is selective, but we strive to maintain personal contact with each student and their family throughout the process.
I invite you to spend time exploring our website, especially our student videos, and relevant links to learn more about our programs. Of course, the best way to learn about UC and the College of Medicine is to experience it firsthand—please come see for yourself through one of our many campus visit programs.
