Overview

The Department of Ophthalmology is the preeminent teaching and research center in the Tristate region (southwestern Ohio, northern Kentucky, and southeast Indiana.)

The expertise of our faculty over the entire spectrum of ophthalmic sub-specialties makes us the regional center of choice of patients and health care providers. Our faculty members have diverse research interests. Their clinical and basic science investigations regularly yield findings and observations that advance the science and art of ophthalmology and lead to improved patient care

Our faculty members see patients and supervise our resident clinics at UCMC Hoxworth Center, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, Cincinnati Eye Institute and the VA Medical Center.

We have 4 interns and 12 residents in our program and offer medical student rotations for third and fourth-year medical students. The department and CEI also offer multiple fellowship opportunities.

The department currently consists over 60 faculty members, many internationally known, including full-time, research, part-time, volunteer, visiting and ancillary members.
