Breast

Host: Surgical Oncology

This tumor board begins with a half-hour didactic session, given on a rotating basis by radiation oncology, surgical oncology, pathology, medical oncology, radiology, genetics or plastic surgery. An hour of patient management discussion ensues with presentations of both local and community cases. It is well attended by all the above specialties, as well as nurses and nurse practitioners, a nurse navigator, pharmacists and tumor registry personnel.

Gastrointestinal

Genitourinary

On the first Wednesday evening of every month, this tumor board takes place at the Barrett Cancer Center and is sponsored by the Department of Radiation Oncology. Surgeons, pathologists, radiologists, radiation oncologists and medical oncologists contribute. Current cases are presented, and this conference is well attended by multiple community physicians as well.

Gynecologic Oncology

On the first and third Thursday mornings of every month, this tumor board takes place at the Barrett Cancer Center and is sponsored by the Department of Radiation Oncology. Current cases are presented, and this conference is well attended by multiple resident physicians and nurses as well.

Head & Neck

Cases of recently seen patients are presented to discuss treatment options. Radiology and pathology are highlighted, as well. The tumor board is attended by physicians from within every oncological specialty, as well as nurses, social workers and tumor registrars.

Neuro-oncology

Every Wednesday morning, this tumor board takes place at the Stetson Building, second floor conference room, and is sponsored by the UC brain tumor group. Neurosurgeons, neuro-oncologists, pathologists, neuro-radiologists and radiation oncologists contribute. Current cases are presented, and this conference is well attended by multiple resident physicians, community physicians, clinical trials office staff and nurses as well.

Pancreas/Hepatobiliary Tumor Conference

Host: Surgical Oncology (see also Gastrointestinal Tumor Board)
When: Weekly on Wednesdays, 12:30-1:30 p.m.

The Pancreas/Hepatobiliary conference is held from 12:30 – 1:30 pm on Wednesday of each week, before the Gastrointestinal conference. It is attended by radiation oncology residents and attendings, hematology oncology fellows and attendings and surgical residents and attendings. At the conference, newly diagnosed tumors of the pancreas, lever and biliary tract are presented and discussed. Pertinent radiographic studies and pathologic slides are presented and discussed by the radiologists, pathologists and attendings including optimal treatment as well as potential morbidities and expected efficacy.

Pediatric Oncology

Sponsored by Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, this solid tumor board takes place at noon every Friday except the first Friday of the month. Radiology and pathology are highlighted, as well as a detailed didactic discussion by a resident. The tumor board is attended by physicians from within every oncological specialty, as well as nurses, social workers and tumor registrars. A lively discussion always follows the resident presentation.

Sarcoma

This multidisciplinary conference is held on the fourth Wednesday of each month. It is attended by radiation oncologists, surgical oncologists and medical oncologists, as well as radiologists and pathologists. Current patients are presented for review of pathology, imaging and patient management, as well as for teaching purposes.

Thoracic

This tumor board meets every Friday and is a collaboration between the thoracic surgeons, radiologists, pathologists, medical oncologists and radiation oncologists. Current cases are presented and care is discussed through a multidisciplinary approach. Attendings, fellows, residents, medical students, nurses and tumor registrars attend. Participation is encouraged.
