Welcome to the University of Cincinnati Radiology Residency Program. Our focus on resident education has been a foundation of this department since its inception and has continued under such luminary radiologists as Dr. Benjamin Felson and Dr. Jerome Wiot. We strive to provide our residents with the most comprehensive and innovative training program in a collegial atmosphere that will serve them throughout their fellowship and career. There are many unique features of our program that include:

  • Curriculum: We provide comprehensive didactic and case-based lectures utilizing a variety of teaching methods including PollEverywhere audience response system. All our senior residents participate in the National Imaging Informatics Curriculum and Course (NIIC), which is a one-week course focusing on the fundamentals of imaging informatics emphasizing practical concepts and knowledge.
  • Mentorship: At the University of Cincinnati, we value mentorship and its importance in helping residents achieve their career aspirations. Our focus on mentorship goes beyond traditional faculty/resident mentorship and includes mentorship of junior residents from more senior residents and fellows.
  • Meetings: Our residents are highly encouraged to become involved in numerous research endeavors underway in our department. Residents who become involved in submitting abstracts, posters, and presentations at national meetings will be supported by our program to attend these meetings. We also support residents attending state and national meetings of the ACR, AUR Radiology Resident Academic Leadership Development Program, and RSNA/AUR/ARRS Introduction to Academic Radiology.
  • 3D Printing: The University of Cincinnati Department of Radiology has a world leading advanced visualization and 3D printing section. The lab completed 100 cases in the first year of operation and has recently moved into a brand-new space with cutting edge equipment, all easily accessible and conveniently located within the main department. Led by Dr. Michael Burch, this robust section has leading scholarship output and is available for residents to participate and develop post processing, 3D printing, and virtual reality skills. All of these techniques are used daily for patient care and are highly desirable in the current and future job market.
  • ESIR: Our program has been approved by the ACGME for Early Specialization in Interventional Radiology (ESIR) designation. This will serve as the first year of training for residents wishing to pursue DR/IR certification.
  • Atmosphere: One of my primary goals as the residency Program Director is to provide the highest quality education experience for all our residents in an environment that is friendly and respectful of everyone. Our Wellness Program, which benefits residents along with faculty members, was recognized by the UC College of Medicine. Read more about it here: Wellness Program
