How to Apply

The General Surgery Residency Program at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center will be offering six categorical positions for the academic year 2023-2024. There are no General Surgery preliminary positions offered. The surgical residency program at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center participates in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP), and adheres to the dates and deadlines set forth by the NRMP. All applications must be submitted through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS).

Application Requirements:

• ERAS application – deadline is October 6, 2023.
• Personal statement.
• Three letters of recommendation including one letter from the Chairman of the Department of Surgery.
• Dean’s letter.
• USMLE Step I and II.  (Step II required by January 10, 2024.)

All offers are contingent upon successful completion of the credentialing and hiring processes prior to the start date. Credentialing requirements include, but are not limited to, obtaining appropriate licensure to practice medicine in the State of Ohio, verification of medical school graduation, and any previous residency training, verification of any previous medical licenses and the passing of a pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
