Admission Process

Admission Process

  1. Fill out the UC Graduate Application at UC Graduate Admissions
For Graduate Major, select the name of the graduate program(s) you are interested in, for example: Cancer and Cell Biology Ph.D., etc.
  2. Pay particular attention to whether the program(s) you have selected require test scores from the Graduate Record Examination (GRE).  Many, but not all, of the College of Medicine graduate programs have waived this requirement.  If, however, any of your programs of choice DO require submission of GRE scores, please arrange to have them submitted to:
    University of Cincinnati
    The Graduate School
    Inst. (CEEB) Code: 1833

  3. Upload the relevant required documents (or provide appropriate information where instructed). These typically include:
    • Essay/personal statement about your research and career goals, and why you have chosen the particular program.
    • Curriculum Vitae, including educational, research and/or employment experiences
    • You will be asked to provide names and contact details of people qualified to assess your ability to succeed in graduate school and your commitment to research.  Your referees will be contacted individually and asked to provide their Letters of Recommendation electronically by uploading them directly to the site.

Please note that each graduate program in the College of Medicine has its own admissions criteria and that there may be additional documents that are required during the online submission. These will be noted at the end of the electronic application. Please also visit the individual program websites listed under the doctoral, master or combined degree programs here for any specific admission requirements and application procedures.
  4. Official Transcripts from every undergraduate institution attended are to be submitted directly to the Graduate School at the following address:
    University of Cincinnati
    Graduate School Office
    P.O. Box 210627
    Cincinnati, OH 45221-0627
  5. Overseas students whose native language is not English are required to submit TOEFL exam scores to:
    University of Cincinnati
    The Graduate School
    Inst. (CEEB) Code: 1833

While the University of Cincinnati Graduate School sets minimum requirements for TOEFL test scores as a condition of admission (click here for additional details), please note that some of the graduate programs at the College of Medicine may have different, more stringent requirements. It is essential that you visit the individual program website(s) of interest and check on their specific TOEFL requirements before you submit an application.

Many of our programs use a more holistic approach in evaluating and admitting students.  To that end, not all programs require the GRE test.  Please contact the program to which you are applying and visit their website to view the admission requirements.
