Internal Medicine Scholarly Training for Academic Research Fellowships

Welcome to the Internal Medicine Scholars Training for Academic Research (IMSTAR) program. Our mission is to create top level academicians looking to succeed in Medical Education, Clinical Research or Basic/Translational Research.

The IMSTAR program has been providing trainees with the support they need in order to become high quality academic physicians in their chosen field. The IMSTAR program is specifically designed for trainees interested in an academic career, develop clinician-educators and physician-scientists who are equipped to shape the future of academic medicine.

IMSTAR pathways offer 1 to 2 years as an Instructor on the faculty with up to 80% protected time dedicated to scholarly training in Medical Education (leading to a MEd degree), Outcomes Research, or Basic/Translational Research (leading to a MSc degree). We strongly encourage entry as early in training as possible into the relevant pathway of your choice.
