The K program (KL2 and CT2) Career Development program is focused on training the next generation of diverse, multidisciplinary clinical and translational scientists under the mission of the NIH National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS). Focused on early career MD or PhD faculty, the K Scholars Program servesa as a mentored training step leading to NIH career development grants such as K01s, K08s, and K23s; R01 awards; or their equivalents.
K scholars will develop skills towards sustainable and impactful research careers in translational science aimed at improving health outcomes for all peoples and communities. The goal of this program is to serve as a mentored training step leading to NIH career development grants such as K01s, K08s, K23s, R01 awards and/or their equivalents. Applicants must have a full-time faculty appointment at the University of Cincinnati (UC), Cincinnati Children’s (CCHMC) or Cincinnati Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) at the time of the award. The applicant’s home division or department must guarantee a 3rd of 75% protected time in the event that the scholars has applied for but not received independent research grant support by the end of the second year of KL2 support.
