Program Summary

This program offers first-and second-year undergraduate University Honors students with training and experience in high-level biomedical research. Qualified trainee associate members and cancer center members conducting research in the labs may serve as mentors. Serving as a RaMP mentor will add two lines to a researcher’s CV: Mentor Training Certification and Service as the Official Mentor in an Honors Program.

Undergraduate students enrolled in the University Honors Program may select the Biomedical Research and Mentoring Program (RaMP) as an honors experience. Graduate students and post-doctoral fellows from the UC College of Medicine and Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center mentors undergraduates in their research labs. Undergraduates in this program have an interest in careers in biomedical research and/or are considering PhD, MD, or MD/PhD programs in biomedical fields. Placements typically require 8 to 15 hours in the lab per week in the Spring semester. Schedules are flexible and will be agreed upon with the research mentor. These are in-person lab experiences unless specifically stated.
