Dr. Menon is a molecular geneticist by training and has a special interest in human genetics, human health, wellness, and human disease.  He was a member of the team that identified the genes for two different cancer syndromes and, more recently is the founding member of the medical sciences program.  His interests outside science include philosophy, education, classic rock, and motorcycles.

As a microbiologist, Dr. Askew is fascinated with the entire microbial world and has a lab dedicated to understanding how some species of fungi cause human disease. His unplaceable accent is a result of living in three countries: England, Canada, and the United States. He’s a big fan of cooking and enjoys studying Italian and French. Each fall, Dr. Askew leads undergraduate students on a study tour to Paris, France where they visit the Institut Pasteur and get to know the city.

Dr. Lieberman grew up on the east coast – born in New York City and raised outside of Philadelphia. Dr. Lieberman did a post-doctoral fellowship at Washington University in St. Louis, had his first faculty position at the Harvard School of Public Health, and came to UC College of Medicine in 1983. While at UC, Dr. Lieberman has served as the Dean of Instructional Computing, the Interim VP and CIO of the University, and is now the Interim Chair of the Department of Molecular Genetics, Biochemistry, and Microbiology.


Kevin Haworth, PhD

Having always enjoyed science and teaching, Dr. Haworth went to college with the goal to become a high school physics teacher. He ended up loving his physics classes so much he continued on to a PhD. With a dual interest in research, Dr. Haworth got his degree in applied physics while doing research in a radiology department. At UC, Dr. Haworth enjoys working in a clinical department (Internal Medicine- Cardiology) where he pursues interdisciplinary research and brings a unique perspective into the classroom. Outside of the lab, Dr. Haworth spends time with his wife and two young girls. He’s a big Michigan Wolverine sports fan and enjoys downhill skiing and trail running.

Tyler Swanson

Tyler grew up in the city of Cincinnati and currently resides in Mount Lookout where he often frequents local coffee shops. He received his undergraduate degree in English from Xavier University. Tyler spent four years working in Xavier’s Admissions office as a student ambassador and loved it so much that he decided to become an Admissions Counselor. He's a Netflix watcher and a dog lover. Tyler's a strong believer in advocating for the needs of others and making sure everyone has a seat at the table. Outside of the daily duties, he enjoys running, getting together with friends from college, and spending time with family.

Shawn Adkins, MEd

Shawn grew up in Brown County, Ohio, but has spent most of his adulthood in Cincinnati.  Currently, he resides in the Columbia Tusculum suburb of the city.   He attended Berea College, the first interracial/co-educational institution in the South, where he majored in Political Science, served as SGA President, and worked in the Admissions office as a student ambassador.   Upon graduation, Shawn spent 12 years working in the insurance industry before finding his way back to the higher education field he had long missed.  Shawn holds a Master of Science degree in Management from Indiana Wesleyan University.   In his spare time, he is an avid Cincinnati Reds fan, is a singer, and enjoys spending time with friends and family.

Elaine grew up near Dayton, OH and attended Miami University, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in International Studies. She has been in higher education since 2010 and her experience includes working with international students, academic advising, learning support, programming, and new student orientation. As an advisor, her personal mission is to proactively provide information, resources, and opportunities to empower students to successfully navigate the university experience. She is also committed to being accessible, providing a safe atmosphere, and respecting the dignity of each student. Outside of work, Elaine loves spending time with her husband and they love to travel and eat new food, especially internationally. They have been to various cities in the UK, France, Spain, Italy, Germany, Austria, Argentina, China and Japan.
