GradsThe Department of Environmental and Public Health Sciences has 60+ full-time faculty members and currently consists of six divisions, including:

  • Biostatistics and Bioinformatics
  • Epidemiology
  • Environmental and Occupational Hygiene
  • Environmental Genetics and Molecular Toxicology
  • Occupational and Environmental Medicine
  • Public Health Sciences

The Department pioneered in the training of occupational physicians and industrial hygienists and has more recently developed a strong teaching program in toxicology and epidemiology, biostatistics and ergonomics. The graduates, called the Academy of Kettering Fellows, number more than 1,000. They hold positions of leadership around the World in the private, public, and labor sectors and other organizations. The department offers graduate degrees and medical residencies. Its graduate programs are Environmental Genetics and Molecular Toxicology , Environmental and Occupational Hygiene, Biostatistics and Bioinformatics, Environmental and Occupational Medicine, and Epidemiology.

Graduates find careers ranging from the practical, such as occupational medicine and environmental hygiene, to basic research into how genetic and environmental factors affect susceptibility to disease. Our graduates share a common goal: to improve the quality of life by understanding the causes of environmental damage and identifying the effective methods of prevention.
