Elise has completed her qualifying exams and is in her fourth year of study. Her research in the Montrose lab is focused on gastric defense mechanisms against acid damage and Helicobacter pylori. Elise hopes to work in industry, possibly for a drug company. Her interests include music.

Currently in her third year of study, Heather has completed her qualifying exams and is studying reproductive endocrinology in the Gregerson lab. Her research is focused on the physiological role and regulation of prolactin in female reproduction. Heather looks forward to a career that will include teaching and nonprofit/mission work. Heather's interests include music, dancing, running, and volleyball, and she loves the beach.

Sunil is researching the role of bilirubin-oxidation products in delayed cerebral vasospasm that follows subarachnoid hemorrhage. He is in his sixth year of study, working in the Clark lab, and focusing his energies on completing his PhD thesis. Sunil's interests include soccer, movies, music, and reading. Sunil hopes to become a physician-scientist and work in neurology.

In his fifth year, and writing up his PhD thesis, Vaibhav is investigating the role of serotonin in mammary physiology and its involvement in breast cancer, in the Horseman lab. Vaibhav will defend his PhD thesis on February 26, 2009. Vaibhav aspires to a career in academia and looks forward to one day running his own lab. Vaibhav's interests include reading, sports, music, traveling, hiking, and sketching.

Arshani has completed her qualifying exams and is in her third year of
study. She is working on her thesis research in Dr John Lorenz’s
lab, studying the role of endogenous Na-K ATPase ligands in regulating
cardiac function. Arshani enjoys music and plays the piano, harmonium,
accordion and guitar. She also enjoys painting, nature walks and playing
badminton. Her career aspirations are to teach at an undergraduate medical
institution and play an active role in health policy planning and implementation. |
