Dr. Wiot attended Medical School at the University of Cincinnati, College of Medicine, graduating A.O.A in 1953. He completed his internship and his Radiology Residency at the Cincinnati General Hospital in 1959.
Dr. Wiot joined the staff of the University of Cincinnati, Department of Radiology as an Assistant professor in 1959 and practiced Radiology at the Cincinnati General Hospital, Veterans Administration Hospital, and Children's Hospital Medical Center. He was appointed Assistant Director of the Department of Radiology in 1961, Associate Director in 1963 and Director in 1968. Dr. Wiot assumed the role of Chairman of the Department of Radiology of the University of Cincinnati and Director of the University Hospital, Department of Radiology in 1973, a position he held until 1992. During his tenure as Chairman, Dr. Wiot also served as Acting Sr. Vice Provost for Health Affairs of the University of Cincinnati Medical Center from 1995 to 1997.
Dr. Wiot has authored or co-authored over 50 publications dealing with the various aspects of Diagnostic Radiology. He has lectured at over 90 international and national meetings and university educational programs. He has also been the Distinguished Lecturer in eight named lecture programs in the United States, Australia and Japan
During his distinguished career, Dr. Wiot has served his profession as President of both the American College of Radiology and the American Board of Radiology, as well as President of the American Roentgen Ray Society. He has been awarded the Gold Medal from both the American College of Radiology and the American Roentgen Ray Society. The University of Cincinnati has bestowed its highest honors, the Daniel Drake Award and the Distinguished Alumnus Award, in recognition of Dr. Wiot's service and achievements.
Dr. Wiot was made an Emeritus Professor in 1998 and
continues teaching, consulting with referring physicians, and providing
patient care at both the University Hospital and at the Medical Arts
Building.
