
Dr. Silberstein received his Medical Degree from Harvard Medical School. His residency in Internal Medicine took place at the University of Cincinnati, Walter Reed Army Medical Center and University Hospital of Case-Western Reserve. His N.I.H. sponsored Hematology fellowship was at the New England Medical Center. He is Board certified in Nuclear Medicine, Internal Medicine (with recertification), Hematology and Medical Oncology.
Dr. Silberstein joined the University of Cincinnati Medical Center faculty in 1968. His current research involves employing labeled radioactive molecules (antibodies, receptor specific peptides) which react with surface chemicals called antigens on cancer cells in order to find and kill these cells. He has also done much work in using radioactive bone seeking molecules which are designed to go to sites of cancer in bone causing pain, in order to relieve that pain.
Dr. Silberstein serves on numerous committees and professional societies. He is the immediate past Chair of the American Board of Nuclear Medicine. He has written 3 books, 45 book chapters and 250 papers and abstracts.
