Message from the Chair | History/Timeline | Administration

The University of Cincinnati (UC) Department of Radiology is committed to excellence in clinical care, education and research.

The department’s history for excellence is rich, having been founded, led and nurtured over the years by many innovative radiologists including diagnostic radiologists Benjamin Felson, MD,  Jerome Wiot, MD, Robert Lukin, MD, and—most recently—Jannette Collins, MD, MEd, FCCP.

Our current 35-person faculty team works every day to build upon that legacy.

Patient Care: Our clinical faculty members are affiliated with UC Physicians and practice at University Hospital, a member of the Health Alliance of Greater Cincinnati.

University Hospital is the primary teaching hospital for the UC College of Medicine and an integral part of the UC Academic Health Center. The radiologists are part of a multidisciplinary team that serves as a major provider of primary care services to the Greater Cincinnati region—which includes parts of Kentucky and Indiana. University Hospital also serves as a regional tertiary-care referral center.

Education: Our department is known nationally for the strength of our radiology residency training program, which accepts an average of eight top-notch residents annually. Residents tell us they are attracted to our program because of the breadth and depth of learning experiences they get through our high-volume imaging centers, diverse patient populations, strong referral services and extensive didactic curriculum.

In addition to University Hospital, we provide educational opportunities at many affiliated institutions, including Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, Christ Hospital and the Cincinnati Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

We also provide imaging services at UC Physicians’ Medical Arts Building, University Pointe Medical Campus and Varsity Village Imaging Center, located in UC's athletic complex on the main campus.

Research: UC Radiology is committed to the pursuit of scientific discovery, as is the entire Academic Health Center leadership team. Our faculty and trainees are collaborating on multiple research projects with other departments throughout the College of Medicine.
