UC Physicians

Message From Chairarrow

Welcome to the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine Department of Radiology. The department was established in the early 1920s and is an academic department providing highly specialized care to patients who need state-of-the-art diagnostic imaging or image-guided therapies.

Our mission is to demonstrate excellence in all that we do: provide patient care, educate health care professionals and engage in innovative research.

We perform over 350,000 exams a year, serving patients at University Hospital, the Cincinnati Department of Veteran Affairs Medical Center and Drake Center, as well as several outpatient imaging facilities and other sites in the Greater Cincinnati area.

The department offers a top-ranked radiology residency program, post-residency fellowship in five disciplines, medical student education, allied health professionals training and continuing medical education for practicing physicians. Over 330 radiologists have been trained in the UC radiology residency program

In addition, over 100 radiologists have completed fellowships in neuroradiology, body imaging and nuclear medicine. Graduates include 13 department heads and many other radiologists in key academic and leadership positions across the country.

UC Radiology provides subspecialized patient care in Neuroradiology, Cardiothoracic Imaging, Abdominal Imaging, Nuclear Medicine, Breast Imaging, Musculoskeletal Imaging and Interventional Radiology

Our sub-specialized physicians provide balloon angioplasty, intra-arterial thrombolysis (stroke reversal), coiling of cerebral aneurysms, coincidence PET imaging for the evaluation of tumors, and TIPS procedure for liver disease.

Our skilled team also provides fMRI and DTI for diagnostic evaluation and neurosurgical planning, T2 MRI mapping of knee cartilage, prostate MRI spectroscopy, full field digital mammography, computer aided detection, breast spectroscopy, MR-guided breast biopsies, and noninvasive dual source CT cardiac imaging.

Comprehensive loco-regional treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma and metastatic disease to the liver is provided using selective internal radiation therapy (SIRT), transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) and radiofrequency ablation (RFA).

It is my honor to lead a department with a history steeped in excellence. I’m thrilled to work with everyone in this department and know that together we will create a future that lives up to the department’s great reputation. I invite you to contact me at jannette.collins@healthall.com
