Research Center
As an academic practice the Division of Radiation Oncology supports and participates in a number of research activities. These include areas of research in the basic sciences, as well as clinical research studies for most tumor types.
We are active in many national cooperative research organizations including the National Surgical Adjuvant Breast Project (NASBP), Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG), Gynecologic Oncology Group (GOG), Southwest Oncology Group (SWOG), Children's Cancer Group (CCG). and the Intergroup Rhabdomyosarcoma Study (IRS). Members of University Radiation Oncology have leadership roles in several of these groups and are involved in designing and administering these nationwide clinical studies.
In addition, a number of clinical studies are conducted by
our faculty both independantly, and in partnership with industry and other departments of the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine.
Current research efforts center around the High Precision Radiotherapy Project and the use of radiotherapy to prevent vascular restenosis.
Current investigational studies are being conducted for the following tumor types:
- Lung Cancer
- Breast Cancer
- Prostate Cancer
- Head and Neck Cancer
- Bowel Cancer
- Brain Tumors
- Children's Cancer
- Miscellaineous Studies
