Dear Applicant:

Thank you for your interest in the Physician Scientist Training Program, the MD/PhD combined degree program at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. The PSTP recruits students from the top undergraduate institutions of the United States and Canada, and we are pleased that you would like to learn more about our program. The College of Medicine provides the PSTP student with basic science training in one of our outstanding PhD degree-granting programs as well as clinical training in a mix of superb hospital and outpatient settings. Students work closely with faculty and administrators to plan individual curricular pathways that will best take advantage of Cincinnati's exceptional research and clinical resources. We believe that custom design of curricular pathways provides the special training students will need to generate and apply new information to the understanding, prevention, and treatment of disease. Students in good standing are fully funded (tuition scholarship plus stipend and health insurance) in all years of the combined degree program.

The University of Cincinnati offers an MD/PhD student:

  • access to strong research programs in the basic science and clinical departments
  • interaction with outstanding graduate and medical students, and with a talented faculty committed to providing an environment which fosters your professional development

  • interdisciplinary research programs in which both basic research scientists and clinicians participate, particularly in the areas of molecular genetics, developmental biology, environmental genetics, human genetics, neuroscience, cancer biology, cardiovascular biology and physiology, neonatology and infectious diseases
  • excellent physical facilities for teaching, research and patient care
