University Hospital is the program's sponsoring institution. It is the only Level One adult trauma center in the region. It has 446 beds and two trauma helicopters that serve a 150 mile radius. It has been consistently ranked as one of America's Best Hospitals by U.S. News and World Report. The Department of PM&R is part of The Neuroscience Institute, located at University Hospital. The Neuroscience Institute is a regional center of excellence that embraces nine neuroscience specialties within The University Hospital, the Health Alliance, and the UC College of Medicine. The Institute is dedicated to patient care, research, education and the development of new medical technologies. The Department of PM&R provides a consultation service at University Hospital and the resident continuity clinic is located there as well. Many residents elect to do a number of their elective months at University Hospital.

The Drake Center is a free-standing long-term acute care facility affiliated with University Hospital through the Health Alliance. The residents rotate at Drake on the stroke, spinal cord injury and brain injury inpatient rehabilitation units. The residents also participate in outpatient clinics at Drake. These clinics include the long-term care of patients with neurological and musculoskeletal impairments. They also spend part of their EMG rotation at the Drake Center. Dr. Steve Page's Neuromotor Recovery and Rehabilitation Laboratory is located at the Drake Center.
Children's Hospital is a 475 bed hospital that has been ranked in the top five children's hospitals in the country by Child Magazine. It has the largest division and training program in pediatric rehabilitation in the country. Residents rotate on the 12 bed pediatric inpatient unit and 10 different specialized and multidisciplinary pediatric rehabilitation clinics. The division of pediatric rehabilitation also performs pediatric electrodiagnostic studies which are part of the resident's EMG training.

The Cincinnati VA has a busy outpatient rehabilitation practice that serves a wide variety of patients, including patients with spinal cord injuries, brain injuries, amputations, musculoskeletal injuries and pain. The residents rotate at the VA in the outpatient clinics. This rotation also provides residents additional exposure to EMGs, urodynamics, wheelchair seating and a prosthetic laboratory. Exposure to interventional spine procedures is also available.

Christ Hospital is a 555 bed hospital that is located near the University Medical Center. Residents rotate on a 15 bed inpatient rehabilitation unit as part of their geriatric rotation. The patient population includes patients with strokes, joint arthroplasty, cancer and spinal cord injuries. There are also additional opportunities for residents to rotate here during their EMG rotations.

Beacon Orthopedics is a free-standing Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Center located a short drive from University Hospital. The residents rotate with Dr. Lester Duplechan, a board-certified physiatrist with a busy musculoskeletal and sports medicine practice. Residents will gain exposure to a wide variety of joint and axial injections and can be involved in the care of team athletes.

The Brace Shop
The Brace Shop is a local vendor for prosthetics and orthotics that is located five minutes from University Hospital. The residents spend one month at the Brace Shop during which they are exposed to the fabrication of orthotics and prosthetics and have ample opportunities to gain further experience in gait analysis and prosthetic fit and function.
