Suszkiw Awarded Fulbright Scholarship for Research Sabbatical in Poland

UC professor of molecular and cellular physiology, Janusz Suszkiw, PhD was today awarded a prestigious Fulbright scholarship to embark on a research sabbatical in Poland. Suszkiw will visit the Nencki Institute of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Warsaw, and the Gdansk Medical Academy during the 2005/2006 academic year, and will study the role of matrix metalloproteinases in neurodegeneration and phenotype-dependent neurotoxicity of metals in cholinergic neurons.
Recipients of Fulbright scholarships are selected on their academic or professional achievement and demonstrated extraordinary leadership potential.
