Lorenz Receives Dean's Discovery Award

UC associate professor of molecular and cellular physiology, John Lorenz, PhD, was today awarded the Dean's Discovery Award for research in cardio-renal physiology.
The new grant will fund the acquisition of a Transonic Sytems ultrasonic transit-time nano-flow probe specifically designed for use in gene-targeted and transgenic mice. Independent and reliable measurements of blood flow and blood pressure are necessary to determine the resistance to blood flow according to OhmÕs law, in order to evaluate vascular function in situ.
