About the Program

The Department of Ophthalmology offers a clerkship and several electives for Years 3 and 4 students. 

In Year 3, students will be exposed to general and sub-specialty ophthalmology at the Cincinnati Eye Institute, the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, and Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center.

Students will be taught essential ophthalmic examination techniques, participate in patient examinations, and may have an opportunity to observe ophthalmic surgery.

In Year 4, students will have the opportunity to take elective courses. The UC Department of Ophthalmology currently offers four elective courses:
