How to Apply

The Obstetrics and Gynecology residency program offers seven categorical positions each year. We do not offer preliminary or part time positions. The residency program participates in the National Ranking Matching Program (NRMP)

All applications must be submitted through the Electronic Residency Application Services (ERAS).. We do not offer positions outside the match nor through any other mechanism than ERAS. To obtain further information on our program, please visit the AAMC FREIDA Website..

2021 Interviews

All interviews are held on Wednesdays (see dates below). Due to COVID-19, all interviews will be conducted virtually. 

INTERVIEW DATES:

  • November 10, 2021
  • November 17, 2021
  • December 1, 2021
  • December 8, 2021
  • December 15, 2021

The prerequisites for the University of Cincinnati Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program:

  • All Applications must be received by October 1, 2021 in order to be considered for interview.
  • All Applicants must have three (3) letters of recommendation.  If you have four (4), that is fine.
  • All Applicants must have graduated medical school within in the past 5 years of when the next academic year starts.  (i.e. for Match 2022 - Graduation date 2017 in order to start 2022)

USMLE Requirements:

  • USMLE Step II CS must be passed prior to Match.
  • Results of the USMLE Step II CK must be received by Feb. 15, 2022, for the application to be considered for the rank list.

For our Osteopathic Applicants and the COMLEX/USMLE

  • USMLE is preferred as it can be difficult to compare COMLEX and USMLE scores.
  • You are NOT required to take USMLE.
  • For those only taking the COMLEX, to be competitive a score of 625 and above for both Level 1 and Level 2.

For International Medical Graduates:

  • The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Cincinnati only sponsors J1 visas.
  • No previous US experience is required.
  • ECFMG certification is not required at the time of application, but is required by the match.
  • Must have graduated from medical school within the past 5 years.

Please note: We do not offer extended observerships. Due to COVID-19, we are currently unable to offer the option for a second look visit, which would consist of a one day clinical observation, allowing you the ability to experience our program first hand, including faculty, resident interactions and facility exposure. If you wish to do an extended experience, you must follow the College of Medicine's Visiting Student Procedures. This applies to all individuals, even if you are a practicing physician in your home country. Due to COVID-19, the College of Medicine is currently not allowing for visiting student rotations.
