Contraceptive Clinical Network
The Contraceptive Clinical Network is a network of nine medical centers that
were selected by the Contraceptive Development Branch of the National Institute
of Child Health and Human Development to perform contraceptive research. These
centers were selected based on their expertise in clinical research, especially
in the field of contraception. Dr. Michael A. Thomas is the Principal Investigator
of this program at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. Studies have
included the phase I-III investigation of new products, including condoms, spermicides,
and post-coital preparations. Drug companies also contract with the site to
do research on contraceptive vaginal rings, intrauterine devices, and innovative
oral contraceptive pills.
