Leslie Myatt, Ph.D.

Dr Myatt received his training at the University of London and joined the University of Cincinnati, College of Medicine in 1987 where he is currently Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Molecular and Cellular Physiology and Chairman of the Dept of Obstetrics and Gynecology. In addition he is Program Director of the Women’s Reproductive Health Research Scholars Program and the Physician Scientist Training Program (MD/PhD) both of which are NIH-funded. He leads an active NIH-funded research group investigating the regulation of eicosanoid synthesis and action in intrauterine tissues at parturition and the role of reactive oxygen species in regulation of the placental vasculature. He has published over 160 papers and 250 abstracts.

Dr Myatt served on the Council of the Society for Gynecologic Investigation from 2000-2003, was President of the Perinatal Research Society in 1996-1997, and President of the International Federation of Placenta Associations from 2002-2004. He is currently Emeritus Editor of the Journal Placenta having been editor from 1997-2004 and he serves on the editorial board of the American Journal Of Obstetrics and Gynecology, the Journal of the Society for Gynecologic Investigation and Trophoblast Research.

Dr Myatt has served on many NIH review panels and planning meetings, being a member of the HED-1 study section from 1995 –1999. He was also a member of the Canadian Institutes for Health Research Endocrinology study section from 2002-2005 and regularly accepts invitations to review grant proposals from around the world. He serves as a scientific advisor for several institutions and organizations in the US, UK and Canada.
