Extracurricular activities
are an important part of the medical school experience. It is important
to work hard at the academics, but it is also important to maintain outside
interests. If you keep your life balanced you won't burn out. The medical
school has many different organizations in which anyone can become involved
in. For instance, if you're an athletic person, intramural sports may be
of interest to you. The College of Medicine also has organizations that
promote family medicine, discuss women's issues, and organize financial
aid resources. Look for all the organizations at the Organizations Fair
during Orientation, and look for flyers to announce upcoming meetings.
There are also many main
campus organizations from politically affiliated clubs to sporting clubs.
Whatever your inclination may be, there is an organization to fit your
interest. It will definitely help you keep your sanity.
