Advisory Network

The goals of the LEGENDS project are broad and benefit from the input, contacts and collaborations of other individuals and organizations outside the Center for Environmental Genetics, working to address similar goals and objectives. The Advisory Network helps LEGENDS to:

  • Identify gaps in the community's knowledge and understanding about genetics, environmental health sciences and human diseases;
  • Critique and advise regarding the content and teaching methods proposed for the curriculum;
  • Serve as a liaison between the LEGENDS program and members' institutional affiliates;

The organizations and institutions included in the Network reflect the target populations that the LEGENDS program seeks to address: health care providers, labor organizations, genetic disease associations, environmental advocacy groups, community-based organizations, and middle and high school science teachers. In addition, the advisory expertise includes educators, labor and community leaders, lawyers, clergy, and an ethicist. The Advisory Network has met four times to assist the project.
