Congratulations to Dr. Abid Yaqub who was elected to serve on the national council of APDEM (Association of Program Directors in Endocrinology and Metabolism). He will serve for a period of 2 years.

We want to congratulate our winners: Yufei Dai, MD mentored by Robert Cohen, MD and Yazan Vwich, MD and Andrew Welch, DO mentored by Abid Yaqub, MD.


Dr. Abid Yaqub recently published a case report with Dr. Hala Mualla and Dr. Sue Ah Bae, former fellows who graduated from our program. It is titled, "Autosomal Dominant Hypophosphatemic Rickets Presenting in a Phenotypically Normal Adult Female".

Dr. Diego Perez-Tilve recently had an article published, "An Hsp20-FBXO4 Axis Regulates Adipocyte Function through Modulating PPARγ Ubiquitination." Link to article: Full article

Dr. Shailendra Patel recently had an article published," ABCG5 and ABCG8: More than a defense against xenosterols." Link to pubmed: ABCG5 and ABCG8

Dr. Robert Cohen is the recipient of an Internal Medicine Research Award. He will receive $30,000 as recipient of the Senior Faculty Pilot Project Award for research on “A Paradigm Shift: HbS1c and HbA1c to Measure RBC Turnover in Sickle Cell Disease.” 


UC College of Medicine and UC Physicians are honored to recognize our top providers in patient experience. In calendar year 2017, Dr. Abid Yaqub performed in the top 1% in the Press Ganey national database for patient experience with clinic visits. Congratulations!

Isabelle Meehan spent almost a month in the hospital. Her family and friends didn't know if she would live. Izzy crashed and was ejected from her car nearly four months ago. Her family believes her Type 1 diabetes caused her to black out. Fortunately, she is recovering.
