The superficial perineal pouch contains three thin muscles:

ischiocavernosus muscle, which covers the corpora cavernosa
bulbospongiosus muscle, which covers the bulb of the vestibule
superficial transverse perineal muscle, which lies on the posterior edge of the urogenital diaphragm (Figure 41.4).

Anterior to the anus, identify the point at which the bulbospongiosus muscle, superficial transverse perineal muscle, and external anal sphincter muscle unite to form the common tendon called the central tendon of the perineum or perineal body (Figure 41.5).
