Kathryn Brown, Ph. D.

Dr. Brown's research activities pertain to occupational health studies of current and former workers at Department of Energy nuclear production and research facilities, ecological studies of ambient air quality and pediatric respiratory diseases using Geographic Information System mappng and childhood lead exposure studies at Superfund sites where previous mining, milling and smelting operations contaminated the local environment. Recently, she has pursued participatory research and collaborative education activities which assist environmentally impacted communities in developing community-based approaches to environmental pollution, risk assessment and public health services.

Peter S. Gartside, Ph. D.

Dr. Gartside's research has focused in two principal areas. One area has concentrated on using quantitative methods applied to national health surveys to determine which habit and dietary preferences affect the subsequent development of the major chronic diseases. The other focus has concentrated on applying genetic statistical methods to problems which arise in the transgenic experiments.
