Application Requirements

Application materials and credentials should be requested and submitted as early as possible, preferably before February 15, for fall admission. The GRE general test is required. Applicants should have a strong undergraduate background in one of the sciences and a year of study in three of the following: biology, chemistry, calculus, engineering, and physics. Students with baccalaureate or master's degrees in one of the basic biological, physical, or engineering sciences may qualify for advanced standing in one of the Ph.D. programs.

 Application Process

Please fill out both the University and Department application forms. Complete and return to this office the green application form and the Personal Data Sheet. Please use a typewriter, or print as clearly as you can, and answer ALL questions. If you need additional space to answer any questions, please feel free to attach a separate sheet with your name on it. Mail all copies of the multiple copy form to the University Dean's Office. A $30.00 application fee is required and must accompany this form (directions on form).

Please complete also the first part of three personal reference forms, and ask three persons (preferably professors in your major field), who know your academic qualifications, interests, and promise for graduate study, to complete the second part and to mail the personal reference forms directly to this office.

You should also arrange to have an official transcript of your academic record at all colleges and universities which you have attended sent directly to this office, together with the official reports of scores on the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) (a requirement) and other tests which you may have taken. The TOEFL is a requirement for foreign students.

Applications for admission and financial aid should be submitted before February 15, but late applications may be considered for possible vacancies. You will hear from this office concerning your application for admission and financial aid.

Your application is not complete and cannot be acted upon until all the following have been received by the Environmental Health Graduate Studies office:

1. Application forms (2) (to be completed and returned by the applicant) and a $30.00 application fee, check made payable to the "University of Cincinnati."

2. An official transcript of the applicant's academic record at all colleges and universities attended, including evidence of degrees conferred, bearing the original signature of the authorized official and the seal of the institution (to be requested by the applicant and forwarded by the institution).

3.Three personal reference forms (the first part to be completed by the applicant, the second part to be completed and returned by the referee).

4.Official reports of results on the following examinations:

a. Graduate Record Examination, including both the Aptitude and Advanced Tests.

b. Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) (required of all applicants whose native language is other than English). Foreign students should consult the Foreign Student information in packet.

Both examinations are administered by the Educational Testing Service, Princeton, NJ 08540, to which all inquiries should be addressed.
