Requirements
Application
materials and credentials should be requested and submitted as early as
possible, preferably before February 15, for fall admission. The GRE general
test is required. Applicants should have a strong undergraduate background in
one of the sciences and a year of study in three of the following: biology,
chemistry, calculus, engineering, and physics. Students with baccalaureate or
master's degrees in one of the basic biological, physical, or engineering
sciences may qualify for advanced standing in one of the Ph.D. programs.
Application
Process
Please fill out both the University and
Department application forms. Complete and return to this office the green
application form and the Personal Data Sheet. Please use a typewriter, or print
as clearly as you can, and answer ALL questions. If you need additional
space to answer any questions, please feel free to attach a separate sheet with
your name on it. Mail all copies of the multiple copy form to the University
Dean's Office. A $30.00 application fee is required and must accompany
this form (directions on form).
Please complete also the first part of three
personal reference forms, and ask three persons (preferably professors in your
major field), who know your academic qualifications, interests, and promise for
graduate study, to complete the second part and to mail the personal reference
forms directly to this office.
You should also arrange to have an official
transcript of your academic record at all colleges and universities which you
have attended sent directly to this office, together with the official reports
of scores on the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) (a requirement) and other
tests which you may have taken. The TOEFL is a requirement for foreign students.
Applications for admission and financial aid
should be submitted before February 15, but late applications may be considered
for possible vacancies. You will hear from this office concerning your
application for admission and financial aid.
Your application is not complete and cannot
be acted upon until all the following have been received by the Environmental
Health Graduate Studies office:
1. Application forms (2) (to be completed and
returned by the applicant) and a $30.00 application fee, check made payable to
the "University of Cincinnati."
2. An official transcript of the applicant's
academic record at all colleges and universities attended, including
evidence of degrees conferred, bearing the original signature of the
authorized official and the seal of the institution (to be requested by the
applicant and forwarded by the institution).
3.Three personal reference forms (the first
part to be completed by the applicant, the second part to be completed and
returned by the referee).
4.Official reports of results on the
following examinations:
a. Graduate Record Examination, including
both the Aptitude and Advanced Tests.
b. Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)
(required of all applicants whose native language is other than English).
Foreign students should consult the Foreign Student information in packet.
Both examinations are administered by the
Educational Testing Service, Princeton, NJ 08540, to which all inquiries
should be addressed.
