About the procedures:

Facial red vein and vascular birthmark treatments

Laser vein removal is easy, fast and effective.  The laser light achieves vein removal by destroying the vein without burning the skin above.  When the light is absorbed, it is converted to heat; the walls of the targeted vein collapses and blood flow stops.  During your treatment, you will feel a slight tingling sensation as the laser fires.  If you find the sensation to be uncomfortable, a local anesthetic cream over the treated area is offered.  You will be fully informed about the risks associated with laser vein therapy and any questions will be answered during your initial consultation.

Sclerotherapy

Injection vein therapy or sclerotherapy is the most common treatment for leg veins.  It works by irritating the lining of the vessels causing them to swell, stick together and the blood to clot.  The solution is injected into the vessel with a very fine needle.  A vessel may need to be injected more than once.  As in laser vein therapy, you will notice red linear lines where the solution has been injected. You may also experience muscular cramping.  You will be informed about the risks associated with this procedure and your questions will be answered during your initial consultation.

Botox

Botox is a novel treatment derived from bacteria.  It is a simple, relatively safe procedure.  Using a tiny needle, a very small amount of Botox is injected into specific locations on the face.  No solution or local anesthetic is needed.  You can resume normal activities immediately.  You can frown as often as you like in the first day or so, but the treated areas should not be touched.  Do not get a facial massage.  Risks associated with this procedure will be discussed during your consultation.

Chemical Peels

Chemical peels use a chemical solution to improve the texture of the facial skin.  We use alphahydroxy acids (AHA’s) for this as well as Trichloroacitic acids (TCA’s).  These peels are mild and will improve the texture of your skin.  They need to be combined with appropriate skin care products.

Collagen Replacement Therapy

Collagen Replacement Therapy is a safe, non-surgical procedure that softens lines and for scars on the face.  Tiny quantities of collagen are injected under the line or scar through very fine needles.  The effect is not permanent and may need to be repeated twice yearly.

Wound Healing

Wound is a disruption in the integrity of skin.  Healing is an attempt to close the defect and restore function and strength.  Some patients have chronic, non-healing wounds with various underlying pathologies.  We try to address the underlying defect in our approach towards healing and use the latest technologies to treat these wounds with skin substitutes, topical growth factors and various wound care products, remedies and devices.
