Department of Dermatology Medical Student Education Program
Medical students from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, as well as some other medical schools, may choose to electively rotate through the Department of Dermatology. Second year medical students are given the opportunity to observe clinical dermatology in the faculty practice. The effective rotation for third year medical students is 2 weeks, and for fourth year medical students is for 4 weeks. The rotations include an intensive didactic training program in basic and clinical sciences, and participation in patient care in a variety of settings including University Hospital, Veterans Administration Hospital, Childrens Hospital, and dermatology private practices. Special research electives are also available to interested students. Faculty from the Department of Dermatology also deliver introductory lectures to second year medical students, and work with second year students on correlating clinical and histopathological findings. Faculty also serve as advisors and mentors to medical students interested in dermatology.
