BASIC SCIENCE RESEARCH
Principal Investigators in the Dermatology Basic Science Research Program are Zalfa Abdel-Malek, Ph.D., Raymond E. Boissy, Ph.D, and Prashiela Manga, Ph.D.
Dr. Abdel-Malek’s interests are in the areas of regulation of human pigmentation, photobiology and photocarcinogenesis, genetic susceptibility to melanoma, and the role of melanocortins and the melanocortin 1 receptor in the diversity of human pigmentation and skin cancer susceptibility.
Dr. Boissy’s research centers on melanocyte models for gene product trafficking and understanding the pathogenesis of pigmentary disorders.
Dr. Manga's research interests are pigment cell biology and hypopigmentary disorders.
