Residency Program

Residency Program

There are four residencies and three ACGME-approved fellowships within the Department of Surgery. The residencies include:

  • General surgery
  • Oral surgery
  • Plastic surgery
  • Urology

All are highly regarded and attract first-class candidates who have been very successful in their specialties. There are three ACGME-approved fellowships. These include:

  • Critical care
  • Vascular
  • Pediatric urology

In addition, there is a Transplant fellowship which is approved by the American Society of Transplant Surgeons. The residencies and fellowships are at the center of the Department of Surgery. Most of the residencies are extremely high-volume, high-index-case residencies in which the residencies are between the 70th and 100th percentile as far as index cases. For example, in the General Surgery residency, the residency is in the 95th percentile with respect to liver resections, pull-through procedures for ulcerative colitis and familial polyposis, and pancreatoduodenectomies.
