Physician Assistant Program

The physician assistant (PA) program in the University of Cincinnati Department of Surgery continues its success and expansion in its sixth year. The faculty, residents, medical students and nursing staff have welcomed the physician assistants and have been very impressed with their medical knowledge and work ethic.

PA’s currently serve on the General Surgery, Trauma, Vascular, and Cardiac Surgery services. They are integrated into the healthcare delivery system and provide excellent care to the surgical patients. The PA’s who are assigned to the Division of Trauma/Critical Care take in-house call several times a month, reducing the number of on-call nights for the junior residents. The PA’s assigned to the Section of Cardiothoracic Surgery are on-call and available to the service each night, weekend and holiday.
