Laboratory Introduction
The laboratory is an integral part of the Microbiology course. It provides the
student an opportunity to learn basic microbiological techniques, and introduces
him/her to a case based approach to microorganisms. The laboratory meets for seven
weeks beginning the end of September. Lab sessions are Monday afternoon and
Tuesday morning or Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning. Sign up for
laboratory sections will be in September.
We realize that some students have had extensive training in Medical Microbiology
laboratory procedures. For these students, exemption from the laboratory is possible.
Exempt students will take the laboratory examination in November, and will meet with a
faculty instructor for one hour each week that the regular laboratory meets to discuss
case histories. For further information, please contact Catharine B. Saelinger.
Dr. John Loper (558-0086; Email John.Loper@uc.edu) is in charge of the laboratory.
Mrs. Eartell Brownlow is responsible for the daily working of the lab.
