Early in the course ( in lab 2) you saw SBA plates with alpha hemolysis (a green cast to the blood plate)and some with oxygen sensitive beta hemolysis, in which the blood plate was cleared only where sub-surface growth had occurred. Here are pictures of SBA plates showing the effects of strains that express
