Religious Organizations' Responses to HIV/AIDS

In May 2007, we launched a new study focusing on religious organizations' responses to HIV/AIDS.  The goal of the study is to examine the factors that shape religious organizations' involvement in HIV/AIDS-related activities and support offered to people with HIV/AIDS.  This 2-year study funded by the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development will be based on a survey of religious congregations in the Cincinnati area and in-depth interviews with clergy and patients with HIV/AIDS.  The study will inform future intervention studies aimed at improving HIV prevention efforts and support services to people with HIV/AIDS, as well as coping and quality of life in patients with HIV/AIDS.

We would like to thank all of the participants in our study.  The findings from this study will be published on this web page after May 2009.

If you have any questions about the study please contact Dr. Magda Szaflarski, Principal Investigator (magdalena.szaflarski@uc.edu, phone# 513-558-9533) or Dr. Joel Tsevat, Co-Principal Investigator (joel.tsevat@uc.edu, phone# 513-558-7532).
