The Center for the Study of Health
The Center for the Study of Health is the research arm of the Department of Public Health Sciences. This center provides state-of-the-art expertise in study design and data analysis for a full spectrum of clinical and population-based research projects ranging from secondary analyses of databases, to observational studies, to controlled trials. This center provides support for grant and contract procurement and management, as well as broad expertise in biostatistics and information technology.

Recent representative projects of the Center include:

  • an environmental hazards evaluation of the Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant;
  • a study of the clinical management of preterm deliveries;
  • a archetype registry for arranging kidney paired donations;
  • a stroke cohort study in Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky;
  • a study of factors leading to nosocomial infections;
  • a comprehensive drug-utilization review.


The Center for the Study of Health is strategically partnered with several other healthcare organizations in the Cincinnati area including:

  • the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center;
  • the Cincinnati Veterans Affairs Medical Center;
  • the Health Alliance of Greater Cincinnati;
  • the Health Foundation of Greater Cincinnati the Health Improvement Collaborative.
