Dr. Tsevat received a BA in Plan II from the University of Texas at Austin in 1979, an MD from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio in 1983, and an MPH from the Harvard School of Public Health in 1988. He completed an internship and residency in internal medicine at the Emory University Affiliated Hospitals in Atlanta and a fellowship in Clinical Decision Making from Tufts-New England Medical Center. Before coming to UC, Dr. Tsevat was a faculty member at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and the Harvard School of Public Health in Boston.
At the Institute, Dr. Tsevat is the Director of Research in the Center for Clinical Effectiveness. He is also Director of Outcomes Research for the Department of Internal Medicine, and Director of Health Services Research & Development for the Veterans' Healthcare System of Ohio (VISN 10). He is also an Assistant Dean in charge of clinical research and clinical research training in the College of Medicine.
Dr. Tsevat is an outcomes researcher with particular interest in: 1) health-related quality of life, in particular health status vs. utility assessment; 2) HIV/AIDS; 3) spirituality; 4) cost-effectiveness analysis; and 5) decision analysis.
