Wise, Ruth Yi, Michael Return to the faculty group photograph Ian Kudel, Ph.D. Research Scientist 1 Psychologist Ian.Kudel2@med.va.gov 513.558.7581 Dr. Kudel earned a BA in Psychology from SUNY College at Oneonta (1993), an MA with a Concentration in Counseling Psychology from SUNY New Paltz (1996), a PhD in Counseling Psychology from the University at Buffalo (2004), and was a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Behavioral Medicine Laboratory at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Along with his current position at the Institute for the Study of Health Dr. Kudel is currently a Research Scientist at the Cincinnati Veterans' Administration Medical Center. Dr. Kudel's research interests include the theoretical development of and the measurement of the construct of health-related quality of life in chronic illnesses, including cancer and HIV/AIDS. He is also interested the interrelationships of coping styles and factors associated with health-related quality of life including pain, social support, mood, and body image. Dr. Kudel frequently collaborates on studies involving the development and/or refinement of measures of health status and health literacy.
